My Favorite

Excuse me :P This is half eaten. Coz the cake is irresistable; my favorite carrot cake. This is one of those I'd miss when I leave America since they don't have it in Japan.
Well, I'm not too sure what American Food is.Hamburgers? Fries? Steak? Amagingly, I haven't even had a single hamburger since I started living in this country where fast food are everywhere. I actually haven't been eating those kind American food simply because I don't like them. But Carrot cake is an exception. Probably my favorite "American" food. I also like how they look ^^

With Just a Pencil

my recent work↑

Wherever I go, one thing I always take with me is a set of color pencils which my parents gave me on my 10th birthday. They have traveled with me everywhere―Australia, Seattle, San Francisco...to name a few. Why? Because I love drawing. I feel unsecure when I don't have them close to me.

When I lived in Australia, I used to draw birthday cards to my friends. And now in the United States I am doing the same things, or a little more something. I do draw cards for my friends, and I also draw doorplates for my friends( of course I did mine too). I just like it. I don't even know how long I can spend my time drawing. And you know, I am just happy seeing my friends also happy with my work.

At my school, there is a book mark design contest going on right now. I think I am going to entry. The prize is $50, wow. But I do not do it for that. I just want to draw:-)

A Little Late but..

Nick and Nick!

Love Faren!

Oh, a week passes so fast. I haven't updated this blog with my last week tale because I feel like it was just yesterday, so I think like it is not too late to write about the weekend; its ok I still have time. But it is not true. This weekend is already coming up and I already have some exciting plans. Last weekend was lots of fun again. I hung out with my friends till so late. We took many pictures, but I guess they are too stupid to showon this blog.haha. So here are just a few ok ones.

Sprinkle of Spring

Hi, what's up you guys?? I've been great! This quarter has been the busiest and toughest one ever in terms of study, but at the same times it's been happiest and the most ecxiting one! nothing really big has happened, but I am just happy everyday, hanging out with my dear friends. As if it reflects my days, here the cherry blossoms are at their best right now!

My weekend

Ashley!!

Sushi!!

At the sushi bar!

Though I've been busy as usual even on weekend, I've been having lots of fun this last quarter. This weekend was so, too. I had bunch of things to do, and couldn't get them done all, but I didn't even care because it was that good. First, Jen's best friends Ashley came over. I've known her since last year so we are good friends and even became closer this time. She is just so funny..I cannot even explain..! So we hang out a lot. And Sunday night, two of my friends, Brandon and Nick( they are each basketball player and football player), took me for dinner at a sushi bar called " Raw". They serve Americanized sushi ( something more than Calfornia roll though!) and it was soooo good, I mean too good. We talked alot and hang out till late even after we got home. I am glad I have such awesome friends around. I'll definitely miss them when I leave:(

Happy Birthday, Jen!!!

This is a little late post, but the last weekend, which is April 7th, was Jen's birthday!! Since the legal age for drinking in the U.S. is 21, we couldn't have a drink that day, but we still had fun (haha)! For the birthday present , I gave her my hand-made birthday card and a cute jewelry box which I found in San Francisco. I woke her up that morning with a song called " It's my birthday" by R. Kelly, and gave her my big Happy birthday hug. The weather was incredibly good that day, so we opened the window and celebrated her birthday morning with nice breeze.
Since I had an insane amount of homework that weekend, I stayed in Cheney that night. But Jen went out for a big ball with her friends. Anyways, Happy Happy Birthday, Jen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a Quick Note..

The weather has been so nice since Friday in Cheney. It just makes me happy, but at the same time, I always kind of feel a little bit of sadness, too. I dont know why. But I guess it's coming from something like nostalgia?

Even sunset is pretty.

Coffee Culture

It is still the first week of Spring quarter, but thank you, I've already got 6 assignments that are all due on Monday. Jesus Christ. Anyways, to boost myself up, and often wake myself up from falling asleep during reading, I drink a cup of coffee.

Though I like coffee, I was 100% a tea drinker till last year (ask my Australian family how much I love tea..haha. Usually I drink 7 to 8 cups of tea a day, and sometimes 10? ). I still drink tea A LOT, and love it. However, things have changed a little since after getting so much used to American culture. I have been drinking a lot of coffee recently. It is addictive, and now I understand why one of my Japanese friends in San Diego started drinking coffee since after she came to the states 4 years ago. Because coffee is just so much a part of our life here. And especially here in Washington, where Starbucks, Seattle's Best, or those famous coffee chains originated, coffee is something people invest much of their money in, whether consciously or unconsciously. I did not see that many Starbucks in San Francisco though in Seattle they were at every single corner.

At school, we have about 3 coffee stands where they brew fresh coffee. I think I've been buying coffee there every day since around February. I guess it is because I have been so stressed out by study...a good excuse? I know I should not have it this often for my health and budget. But I am unfortunately kind of addicted. Too bad. By the way, my favorite is.. White Chocolate Mocha( it has to be with soy milk, double shot, and decaf. So specific! haha). If you come to the US, you might as well stay away from coffee because it's so contagious!

San Francisco Ⅲ

Although I went to San Francisco alone, I was not all by myself during the trip. I met Yoko in down town who stopped by on the way back to Japan, and also met up with one of my American friends who lives in San Francisco.Yet, other than that, I was on my own pretty much. I mean I liked it, so that's ok. But sad thing is that I was hardly in any pictures since I was the one who was taking them・・・!

These are the pictures I am fortunately in...with Yoko!

San Francisco Ⅱ

San Francisco has numerous attractions for tourists. This is Golden gate bridge by the way( I walked from down town to the bridge :P Crazy?). Other tourists' destinations are Fisherman's Warf ( famous for clam chowder), Alcatraz Island, China Town, Japan town, Golden gate park, Victorian houses and so on..! I actually wanna go through all of each in detail, but since there are too many let my pictures explain how good they were..^^ Oh, there is a really famous national park in San Francisco called Yosemite National Park which I seriously wanted to visit, but I ended up not going after talking with my budget. I still want to go there though...!!Maybe next time I visit San Francisco!

San Francisco!!

Ok, I am going to talk about my spring break in San Francisco over a couple of times. Well, the city was just overwhelming..HUGE! I thought Seattle was big, but San Francisco completely changed the thought. And anything from kind of buildings to the atmosphere of the city seemed so much different from Washington States where I live.It is California, so you know what I mean, right?
